Have you ever had your hair greasy literally the day after you showered? For me, that's very often. In these situations, I have a working trick that I started using about 3 years ago, but I regret not discovering it sooner. To keep my hair in good shape, I use dry shampoo between washes. You've probably heard that it's not good to wash your hair every day because it damages it or may cause you dry hair. This is absolutely true, but what do we do when the next day the hair looks bad? How can we simultaneously keep our hair alive and wash it less often? Of course, we use dry shampoo!

What is dry shampoo?
Dry shampoo is a substance that absorbs the hair oil from your hair and makes it look clean again. The product is really usable for the following situations:
- ✔️ To maintain clean hair between washes
- ✔️ To refresh your hair after a sweaty workout
- ✔️ On the go or in a remote place with no access to a shower (Camping, Hiking, etc.)
- ✔️ People with disabilities who are having a hard time with regular showering
I will share with you why this shampoo was a game-changer for me. For many years, my hobby has been camping, and mostly backcountry camping. I love finding myself at places away from everyone and everything. Where I think of nothing but my next hiking trail. The problem comes with the fact that I can get food, and everything, but I can't take the shower with me. I can find a solution for pretty much everything, but my hair is always a problem. The humidity in the forested areas is quite high and this always contributes to faster oiling. To be honest, that's how I discovered the product.
Everything was great, but this was a new product for me and I didn't know how to use it. I knew what the product does, but I didn't know how to use dry shampoo properly. Unfortunately, manufacturers are not always comprehensive enough in this regard, and it took me a while to find useful information that helped me. For this reason, I am making this article, hoping to help you in this endeavor and give you some tips on how to use it correctly.
What happened next?
After discovering that the product does such a great job while camping, I figured I could easily use it to freshen up between hair washes as well. So I started using it every other day, alternating dry and regular one every day. Fortunately, this product now comes in many forms like dry shampoo spray, dry shampoo paste, and foam dry shampoo, so that makes it easily portable, and you can put it in any small backpack or bag.
How to use dry shampoo:
Divide your hair into equal sections
Use hair ties or other hair accessories to hold your hair in even strands so that you can access the roots of the hair. Start at the top of the scalp and work your way down, making sure there is at least 5 cm (2") of clearance from each section.
Apply dry shampoo
Apply the product to your roots first, making sure you're spraying (if you're using spray) at least 15 cm (6") away to avoid buildup. Start with the top ends of the hair first and work your way down as you did in step one. Don't worry if white spots remain on your hair. After brushing, these residues will disappear.
Wait between 5 and 10 minutes
Make yourself a coffee/tea or listen to one or two songs of your favorite artist. It is necessary to wait because it takes time to absorb the oil from your hair. You have to make sure that the dry shampoo sit for at least 5-10 minutes. The golden rule is that the longer you wait, the better results you will achieve.
Rub the shampoo into your hair
Use your fingers to rub it into the roots of the hair, so it reaches your hair follicles. Rub your hair and scalp until you evenly distribute the product, and it gradually blends with your hair. There is no specific amount of time you should massage your hair. Instead, you'll know that's enough when the white residue fades away.
Brush your hair
Perhaps the most enjoyable part of the process because… who doesn't like to be brushed? Use a large brush if possible with round-tip scalp massagers to remove dry shampoo residue. If after brushing, there are still white spots at the roots of the hair, use a hair dryer to remove them.
Shine bright like a diamond
Now that you know how to use dry shampoo, you can safely focus on your daily tasks without worrying about your hair looking bad. Be confident and be yourself.
PRO TIP: Try applying dry shampoo after shower before bedtime. It may mess with your pillow but it will absorb oils much better. In addition it will add volume.
Which dry shampoo should I choose?
Unlike a lot of cosmetic products, dry shampoo can be used on any hair. So, no matter your hair type (fine hair or thick) or hair color (dark hair, blonde hair, or natural hair), using it can't harm your hair if used properly.
There are types of the product on the market, which makes it difficult for us to choose. What I know from experience is that best-selling products are always the best option. Luckily, I have access to the Cosmetic World database and can check all the dry shampoos and determine the bestsellers. So you will know that whichever one you choose, given that the product is so popular, you can't go wrong. Here are Cosmetic World's best-selling dry shampoos.
